Visit to Marina Barrage and Sustainable Gallery
The Marina Barrage plays an important part in helping to alleviate flooding in some of the lower lying areas of the island. During periods of heavy rain, a series of nine crest gates will be opened to release excess storm water into the sea when the tide is low. When the tide is high, seven giant pumps that are capable of pumping one Olympic-sized swimming pool per minute whirr into action, draining water into the sea.
The facility is also a showcase for Singapore’s push to be a greener country. The Solar Park, for instance, features one of the largest collections of solar panels in Singapore, with over 400 panels providing electricity needed for lighting at the barrage during the day.
To find out more about the country’s efforts to go green, head to the Sustainable Singapore Gallery at the barrage’s ground floor. This educational space illustrates environmental and water issues through interactive multi-media displays, exhibits and games .
Visit Singapore Maritime Gallery
Sail into Singapore's maritime beginnings and discover how she transformed from a thriving trading post into a premier Global Hub Port and world's leading International Maritime Centre!
Maritime Gallery is designed to be self-exploratory and offers flexible learning opportunities about Maritime Singapore at your own pace.
Visit Art Science Museum (include admission to ONE exhibition)
Art Science Museum is an iconic cultural landmark in Singapore that explores where art, science, culture and technology come together to form new ideas.
It housed 21 gallery spaces with a total area of 50,000 square feet (6,000 square meters).
Rainwater is harvested and channeled down the centre of the building, flowing through its bowl-shaped roof into a reflecting pond at the lowest level of the building. The rainwater is then recycled for use in the building's restrooms.
Immerse yourself in a world of art, science, magic and metaphor through a collection of digital interactive installation.
This permanent exhibition is created in collaboration with team Lab, a renowned interdisciplinary art collective.
Future World takes visitors on an exciting journey of discovery through these key narratives – City in A Garden, Sanctuary, Park and Space. Visit to Gardens by the Bay
The Gardens by the Bay occupy 101 hectares of prime land by the water and will become part of Marina Bay. Situated at the heart of Singapore’s next phase of development as a global city, the Gardens is an integral part of Singapore’s “City in a Garden” vision in which the island-state is woven into a green and floral tapestry.
Watch as the Supertrees come alive with special effects at night. Come, be inspired by nature where wonder blooms.
Pulau Ubin is typically known to Singaporeans as a little run-down old island fit for a half-day bicycle ride around and for a cheap seafood meal thereafter.
What many do not know however is that this little gem is so much more than that! The National Parks Board estimates that the island has over 786 native plants, 242 birds, 201 butterflies, 89 mammals, reptiles & amphibians. Many of these species are very rare and some are not found on mainland Singapore. There are a number of critically endangered Bat, Otter, Bird, and Orchid species surviving on the island. Today, habitat enhancement projects on the island include shoreline restoration, reforestation, and freshwater habitat enrichment recovery programs.
What better way to discover all these than through a spirited walk through the island with our extremely knowledgeable and experienced guide!
Our guide takes you through a variety of habitats like the Mangroves, Rocky and Sandy Shores, Coastal and Secondary Forests, Abandoned Rubber and Coconut plantations, Fruit Orchids, Scrublands, and Fresh Water Ponds. Along the way, you hear about the incredible uses of medicinal plants, the flora, fauna, and the inside stories of people who continue to live on the island.
See Pulau Ubin in a different light! This is a great experience on which you get to rediscover the nature around us and perhaps even yourself!
