Today you visit Tiananmen Square, the world’s largest city square. From Tiananmen Square, visitors enter the gates of the Forbidden City which was home to 24 Chinese emperors between 1420 and 1924. This massive complex was the centre of the Ming and Qing dynasties. With almost 10,000 rooms, this remarkable, well-preserved imperial palace is the largest palace in the world.
